Workshop schedule for MythiCalia 5 (2011) (cancelled)

This is not set in stone; otherkin gathering schedules have a tendency to... not be. Set schedules, that is. Yanno?

Obviously this is just an outline at this point. If you would like to present a workshop or talk of some kind, email me and I'll pencil you in. Note that this year's schedule includes a full Sunday afternoon and evening!

The site opens at 2 PM Thursday and closes at 12 PM Monday. "Quiet time" every night is 10 PM.

Ludi Animarum: Revealing the Self Through Play
Otherkin have an uneasy relationship with role-playing. It can be a powerful tool, but it can also get awkward fast. Is this a space we can and/or should reclaim, and how might we go about that? We'll discuss the social contract issues that hinder roleplaying as a self-discovery tool and whether genuine epiphanies can come from a shared fictional space. I'll share examples of indie RPGs that have come from the foundation of "playing as yourself", as well as RPGs that have successfully tackled religious/spiritual themes. We'll talk about our prior experiences with self-RP, both our own and the ones others have dropped upon us. (Baxil)

Otherkin RP Alpha Test
Depending on interest, we can follow up on "Ludi Animarum" with a short alpha design of a narrative RPG by/for/about Otherkin (based on feedback and assistance from the first session), somewhere in the space between "shared storytelling" and "guided meditation" and "RPG", and run a playtest. This would be a way to put the first discussion's conclusions into action. With a good set of rules shaping expectations and providing support during play -- and with a group of players willing to agree what they want out of it -- self-RP doesn't have to be a trainwreck!
