I've been to BayCon twice, earlier this decade, but since I wasn't going
*with* anyone really, being there by myself (essentially -- I did run
into some people I knew, but not great friends) really wasn't all that
much fun. Unless you are *very* into gaming and SF and whatnot, it is
basically one long party, and while I like to party, I can't do it for
three days straight. (Maybe when I was 19!) I am only into gaming in a
very casual sense anymore, mostly just in the sense that I can speak
that "language", don't mind hearing stories, etc. I haven't actually
played in any campaign since at least 2000.

That said, I have been going to PantheaCon (pagan convention in San
Jose, same hotel as BayCon used to be at, actually) every year for
several years now, and I enjoy that thoroughly. I know a number of other
people who go every year so we always manage to hook up, and besides
that there is a lot more to keep my interest than the workshops one
generally sees at BayCon.
