DISCLAIMER - remember this is ONLY ***MY*** EXPERIENCE AND OPINION.... it counts for as much as you give it credit... it may sing for you it may not... either way it is my Song... and i resonate with everything im about to say... as do Several Nymphs i know... so take it or leave it... *wink* ... also PLEASE remember that i am NOT a Nymph... but a Satyr...
that disclaimer aside...
In legend, Nymphs are the counterparts to Satyrs... they are the bouncy stereotypical blonde... the one that would run away, but slow enuff to let you catch em when they wanted to be caught... they are equally as sexual as satyrs... equally as quick and nimble with their hands, their feet, their words, and their magicks... and theres more to a nymph than a nice stack and a great lay... theres some serious majick goin on there... and some serious Purpose as well...
Nymphs have some serious defensive majicks... no one gets near one less they choose to allow it... that goes for their hearts and their bodies... (at least not easily...)
they are just as connected to the Dreaming, and the Glenn as their Satyr counterparts... for those that didnt read my satyr post id suggest doing so... it goes into what the Glenn and the Dreaming mean for a Satyr of my variety, and i think it applies to our Nymphly counterparts as well...
and they are equals to any fae...
Nymphs also have the ability to live in the present... to forget the past... to live in the Now... in fact id go so far to say that teaching that lesson is one of their biggest Purposes here (yes im of the camp that says each fae race has a racial purpose and identity that one is free to follow or reject).... they do this conciously or unconciously, but usually they do this... This is huge in todays world... we live in a time where we are forced to plan for the future, worry about past mistakes, cope with the now, and imagine and plan for multiple outcomes of single actions... Nymphs are here to remind us that this isn't necessary all the time... that it is a *good* thing to be able to forget all that and enjoy life when you've the opportunity... sometimes planning for the futures and remembering the past IS important, but that lesson is taught by other fae....
remember our fae souls are immortal, and nymphs have been around as long as any of us... yet, they remember little from the past and rarely have visions of the future... they Live in the Now... what matters to them is what is going on NOW... what is affecting them and those around them NOW... not what happened last week or last year or last incarnation... UNLESS it is directly affecting them NOW....
they also earned the reputation of being bubbly, happy and flighty... this is important to examine as well... in my piece about satyrs i mentioned that if you REALLY looked in a satyrs eyes that their is a sadness that is beyond description, that it weighs on the satyrs soul... that it fills them to a point where they dont know what to do... satyr/nymph pairings act as a release for that sadness... and a reminder how much Fun life can be when you really live it... when the partying gets down the nymphs are right there alongside us... otherwise it could very well turn into a bunch of sad-ass satyrs passing the mead and sobbing into it... nymphs wont stand for that... their majick brings out the Joy much like a satyrs brings out Passion....
if youve begun the road to Awakening and think you may be fae good luck... Find the Song that is in your SOUL and sing the Song that you find so's we all can hear...
