MythiCalia is a west-coast event for otherkin and otherkin-friendly folks to get together and hopefully make both magic and friends. The gather is not a "spiritual retreat" per se, but is intended to lean that way somewhat, and hopefully have a bit of a magical or mystical atmosphere. There will be plenty of time for hanging out and socializing, but if you would prefer to just be discussing mundane things the whole time, this may not be the event for you.
MythiCalia went pretty well this year (2007), if I do say so myself! And if people requesting a Thursday start rather than Friday, and more workshops, and and and, is any indication.
Date and location are not yet set for next year. I will probably be switching to a "you only get the exact location when you register" format, a la Dancing the Endless Dream, to allay some concerns a couple people had that just anyone could find out where we were and gate-crash. Huddart Park worked fairly well as a site, although a couple people were annoyed by the lack of onsite showers (sorry!) and while privacy was good on Friday night, on Saturday a lot of VERY LOUD children moved in next door. You just can't find anything remote enough that still has any kind of access to food and gasoline... *sigh*
16 people wound up attending at some point (not all stayed overnight). Two cabin sites I had been considering up in the Sacramento area have stated maximums of twenty. If you have a tip-off for a good site that can accomodate a growing number of people, but won't break the bank at $100 a person, I'd love to hear about it.
